Hey y'all!
I am a true southerner at heart who loves sweet tea and fried green tomatoes. I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama with my parents and three brothers. There was never a dull moment growing up in a house full of boys but I don’t think I would trade it for anything else. My oldest and younger brothers now live in San Francisco and San Diego, California while another is in Birmingham. I live here in Atlanta with my elderly but adorable golden retriever named Bailey.
My southern accent is probably the most distinguishable when I shout “War Eagle!” as I cheer on my alma mater at fall football games. I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and later on, I earned a Master’s in Elementary Reading along with a gifted endorsement. I relocated to Atlanta shortly after graduation and have spent my career in Gwinnett teaching grades K-3. I am excited to start my second year at Heards Ferry!
When I am not teaching, I am an occasional cook who enjoys creating my own recipes in the kitchen. I also like to binge watch a TV show on a rainy day but I mainly love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy playing tennis, going to the beach, hiking, and traveling to new places.
I am excited to welcome everyone to first grade and I look forward to working with you and your child. First grade is such a fun year with so many opportunities for learning and building relationships. One of my most important goals is to create a family of learners where every child is valued and trusted. I strive to provide learning opportunities that engage and motivate children to reach their highest potentials. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home. I can’t wait to meet everyone as we explore another year of learning!
